Aboriginal Day Celebration at Arrowwood

We had a great day celebrating Aboriginal Day at Arrowwood School.  We were able to share the First Nation's culture with various community members and students from Milo school as well.  We had an opening prayer in Blackfoot, Siksika Princess, Flag and Victory song as well as a variety of dances.  Special thanks goes out to Raven Good Eagle, Savannah Leather, Lanie Many Bears, Len Cutter, Amiya Yellow Old Woman, Amber Brass-Many Guns and James Many Guns for your spectacular dancing!  Thank you to Donny Rowan, Len Cutter and Galen Rides the Grey Horse for your drumming and singing! We also were given a brief history on the way of life for Siksika people by Clement Bear Chief.

A round dance was also part of the celebration in which everyone watching was invited to join.  The round dance invites participants to experience community and renewing relationships while celebrating First Nation's identity.

It was a wonderful celebration for everyone and a great glimpse into the lives of our First Nation neighbors!!
